What is a Feng Shui session like?

Many people ask me what a session is like, especially if they’ve never worked with a Feng Shui or Holistic Home practitioner. I understand it’s a very big deal to let someone into your sacred space. When I did my training, honestly I didn’t know what a session would be like either! I just knew I wanted to help people.

Much like going to a therapist, or even for bodywork or a massage, things will come up and then be addressed but this will give you a general idea about what to expect when working with me.

Many people will tell me things they didn’t realize they would tell me, this is a very deep and personal practice. It’s really more than just pretty colors and moving things around although that is part of what we end up doing. We’re dealing with patterns, invisible energies, the subconscious and deep-rooted issues although it is done in a very practical and literal way in the 3D world.

The Transformation
The transformation begins when you decide to reach out to me or book a session. You’ve now made a commitment that you want to change something or improve your life in some way. You may or may not know exactly what you need, but it will become known soon. I prefer to chat in case you have any general questions and to make sure we are on the same page about what you think you need and if I’m the best person for that. You can schedule that here or just email me monica@bloominghome.space and let me know some good times for you.

Once we chat and we decide we’d like to work together, we can also discuss the best format. I’ve found that there’s only so much we can get accomplished in 1 session, but if it’s one or two areas, you can start there and then add on as needed. To really make change we need to have a minimum of 3 months and 3 sessions together. Otherwise, it can be overwhelming at first and also this way you have accountability and time to implement the changes. You can purchase right here on the website or email me to complete another payment method or be invoiced. You can easily book your session right under services (just scroll down).

Which Type of Session to Book?

This answer just depends on what you are in need of and the level of help you require.

Basic Session This session is generally good for dealing with one room or a few areas of your home and life. If you prefer to work this way, you can start here and add additional sessions as-needed.

Whole Home Please choose this session if you are looking for help with your entire space. Choose your home size from the dropdown menu.

Transform Packages If you are looking to dive deep into your project and life, this Package is for you. We will create real change over a 3-6 month period in your home and your life. This is a more in-depth, hands on approach that includes Intuitive Coaching.

Once you schedule your session, I ask you to send me a Floor plan of your home. Depending which type of Session we’re doing, we’ll likely have a 15 minute or 30 minute intake call so I can see what is going on. I also have you fill out a quick two-page intake form along with your address that you can fill out when you book your time slot. The floor plan doesn’t have to be a formal architectural rendering. If you have one handy, you can definitely send that. If you don’t have it you can just quickly sketch to the best of your ability. It doesn’t have to be exactly to scale or perfectly drawn, but just your interpretation of your home. You can include the walls, doors, stairways and windows. If we are meeting virtually, it’s also helpful for you to send me a link to or include photos of the spaces we are working with. I go ahead and do my work with your photos (if included—not necessary if we’re meeting in person).

Your Consultation
Ahead of our meeting, you don’t need to do anything crazy. You can do your normal cleaning and tidying as your home would look on a normal day, or maybe if you were having a guest over.

When we meet, we’ll go over your intake form and make sure we are clear of our priorities. I like to focus on the priorities and then we can always schedule another session. I’ll have you walk me through your entire home, starting with the area(s) of importance first. Sometimes, we’ll need to walk through and chat to figure out what that is. I will notice things after seeing the space and there may be some things we can change right there. I might recommend paint colors, couch colors and bedding colors and fabrics for you to choose later. We might just move some things around. Sometimes, it ends up that entire rooms will need to be switched. We might move plants around or I might recommend the addition of a piece of artwork. There might be something glaring that needs to be removed. If there is something in the layout or design of the space that needs a certain “remedy,” I will recommend that. It’s best for you to have a notepad and pen to write everything down, so you can go back later and complete the recommendations. I will go into more detail and be sharing more case studies soon, but I hope this gives you a basic idea.

Considering Your Needs
Both virtual and in-person sessions work in the exact same way and are just as effective. The only difference is you’ll kind of take me on a virtual tour if we meet over video. If you aren’t in your space (say you’re moving into a new home) we can still meet virtually and talk it through. This is why sending photos is helpful because I can then see everything and reference them if I need to on our call.

Another thing we’ll discuss is financial, the recommendations I make can be for entirely new pieces or we can utilize what you have and more inexpensive options like moving things around. Sometimes it may end up that the best option is to move, sometimes we can make adjustments so that you love your space again. It really just all depends what we end up doing based on your space and your needs. We can also extend to the outdoor areas and space. If you want more direction, like me actually choosing pieces for you, we can discuss that too.

Sharing the Love
I would love and appreciate if you can take before and after photos (or if in-person, allow me to take them). I will not share these without your permission and they can be shared anonymously. I know home is very personal but it’s helpful for me to have case studies to show other clients. Sometimes a picture really can show transformation that words can’t. Plus, it’s nice for you to have these as well so you can see how far you’ve come. If you don’t want to share them, that’s okay, too. The other thing that is appreciated is for you to write a Google review and a Facebook review. This helps others (and me!) to know about your experience.

Lastly, some people come to me as individuals wanting help, others come as a couple. I am happy to help either way. If you live in a space with others, we can adjust your personal space and belongings or if your partner or roommates are okay with it, we can make other adjustments. Yes, children’s rooms work in the same way. I am happy to make recommendations there and depending on the age of the child, they can be involved too or you can pass along the recommendations.

Included with your 2-hour Basic Session is a follow-up check-in. This is usually a 15-20 minute call where you can update me or ask any other questions. If you’d like more support than that, schedule a Whole Home or Transform Package.

I hope that helps and please let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to know about how a Feng Shui session with me works. I look forward to working with you!
